Rights & removal
Your project on aetolo
aetolo points to student projects where they are published, the way a search engine does, and takes a project down when its maker or school asks. Last changed 26 October 2026.
What aetolo shows
- A link preview of a page that is already public: the project’s title, an excerpt of at most 180 characters, the picture the page itself offers for link previews (its og:image, or its first project picture) and a link to the page.
- The picture is loaded from the original site each time it is shown. aetolo never downloads, copies, resizes or stores it, so when the original page removes it, it is gone from aetolo too.
- Every project leads to its original page, and that is where it is credited and where it lives.
Remove or change a project
If you made the project, teach on it or speak for the school, ask and we act within 7 days, usually sooner. Removal takes it off the board, Onto and Aeti at once. You do not need to give a reason.
Or write to aetolo@aetolo.com with the project’s address on aetolo (every close-up has an “Is this yours?” link that fills it in) and what you would like.
Sites can opt out themselves
- robots.txt: aetolo reads it before every page and does not fetch what it disallows.
- A page with
<meta name="robots" content="noindex">is left out of aetolo. - A page with
noimageindexin that tag, or<meta name="pinterest" content="nopin">, is shown without its picture. - These are read at each update of aetolo’s index. To be left out sooner, or as a whole school, write to us (see “Opt out a whole site” above).
Copyright notices
- A notice names the work, where it appears on aetolo, and how to reach you, and says you are the owner or act for them and believe in good faith the use is not authorised. The “Send a copyright notice” message above has these lines ready.
- We take the project down while we look at the notice, and tell the school or the student where we can. If you think a project was taken down by mistake, write to us and we will look again.
- See also the terms and the privacy page.
