What aetolo keeps
aetolo shows student projects as link previews and counts how the site is used. This page says what is kept, for how long, and how to have it removed. Last changed 25 October 2026.
Every visitor
- Visits are counted without cookies: for each day, a one-way hash of the day, your IP address and your browser, salted with a secret. It changes every day and cannot be turned back into your address. With it we keep the first page you opened that day, the site you came from (its name only), the campaign tags in the link, your country and the kind of device.
- We also count, per day, which pages and projects were opened and how often Onto, Aeti, saving and sharing were used. These are totals, not tied to anyone.
- Your saved list and recently viewed projects stay in your browser (local storage) unless you sign in.
- Google Analytics is used only if you choose Accept in the cookie notice. It then sets its own cookies (_ga, _ga_*) and Google processes your visit as described in Google’s privacy policy. You can change your choice with “Cookie choice” at the foot of every page.
If you sign in
- Signing in is with Google. We keep your name, email address and profile picture from Google, when you joined and when you were last here. We never see your Google password.
- We keep the projects you like and the projects you save, so they follow you to every device. How many people like a project is shown to everyone; who liked it is not.
- Sign-in sets one cookie, __Host-ae_session (180 days, only for aetolo.com, not readable by scripts). A second, __Host-ae_oauth, lives for ten minutes while you sign in.
Where it is kept
- The site is served by Vercel. Accounts, likes, saved lists and visit counts are kept in a Cloudflare D1 database. We do not sell or share any of it, and we do not use it for advertising.
- Daily visit rows are kept for at most 13 months; accounts until you ask us to remove them.
Ask, change, remove
To see what we keep about you, or to have your account, likes and saved list removed, write to aetolo@aetolo.com. The same address takes requests to change or take down a project.
